I am very happy to share with you today that yesterday I won an Instagram contest from Creativebug! I know I haven't mentioned them on the blog so far (on Instagram I have several times), but they have been crucial to me in this process. And yes, there is also a story behind my love for Creativebug!

It all started a little less than a year ago when a friend mentioned that she had found Paciencia's twin on Instagram. I must clarify that Paciencia is our dog (which is lovely, beautiful and has an awesome personality; but that's for another blog post). At first I did not pay much attention to it because most people think all chihuahuas look alike... until I saw Wilfredo! They looked like they were separated at birth; so I followed his mom, Lisa Congdon, on Instagram. A few days later I realized that Wilfredo's mom was an artist, and a really good one! I started admiring her work for a few months and it got me more and more inspired. It was all part of "the combo" that made me start drawing again.

By the time the urge to draw was at its peak, Lisa announced that she had a course called Sketchbook Explorations on Creativebug. It was the first time I'd heard about the page but I decided to subscribe and give it a try. I just can't put into words the impact that taking Creativebug courses had on me. It was like creativity started to pour out of my fingers and it was mostly inspired by those artist who were kind enough to share their techniques and thought processes with me (us).

While I was in the process of taking all the Sketchbook Explorations courses, Creativebug announced on their Instagram a new contest that was precisely about it. To participate, you had to upload drawings inspired by Lisa's course and use specific hashtags. I just thought, how convenient! It was just what I needed to start showing my work on Instagram. So I started participating and yesterday I found out that I’m one of the winners. And yes, I know that it's not a big contest, but it pushed me to put my work out there and a month later I have this web page and I'm writing to you! Let's say I won a lot more than a bundle of pens and a free subscription.

Is life interesting or what? I am always amazed by how the little things and decisions we make in life lead to bigger things. So besides thanking Creativebug for delivering such an inspiring content and the artists on it (specially Lisa Congdon) for sharing their knowledge with us... I have to thank my dog! Because if it wasn't for her, I probably wouldn't have found out about it in the first place. But wait... I'd have to thank my boyfriend too, because if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have a dog! And this could go on and on.

You see? It is complicated to go back to the origin of good things. So I just want to say that I am very grateful and happy, that is all!
